Hate open core – artificially worse

What is the fund raising environment? Is there a push to revenue?

For pre-seed / seed – no change. If you were building product and working on adoption, and investors are aligned on that strategy, shouldn’t be expectation of focusing on revenue.

Great phrase: later stage “spread sheet companies” are mainly the metrics of the business.

Will $100M rounds get done over Zoom?

I highly recommend anyone interested in open source licensing topics read Kyle Mitchell’s blog:

Cross License Collaboratives is one of the things I’m deeply interested in:

Is there video / audio / transcript of this discussion?

I’m curious to know more about the statement “Hate open core – artificially worse” and what it means by “artificially worse”.

No, we didn’t record it, since it wasn’t hosted by us, and was more of a group chat.

I think the reference to open core as a business model was hating that having to make parts of the software “artificially worse”, while putting non-open content into plugins or behind a pay wall in some way, rather than everyone working together to make the best software.
