We are hiring a Marketing Writer.
At this early stage, we’re happy for you to be a generalist. But: you’re going to do a lot of writing.
We have a ton of existing stories to tell, and we create lots of new content on a weekly basis, both from our own sharing and with our growing community of developers and evangelists.
We want to kick our blog and other channels into high gear. Stories about apps, creators, new features, deep technical building blocks, and more vision-focused pieces on privacy, open source, and local-first software.
Fission is building a fast app publishing platform that enables front end developers – and eventually designers, site builders, and lots of other digital makers – to build app businesses on our site. We work with our developer customers to help them succeed in building apps and connecting with users for feedback, donations, and eventually sales as we turn on marketplace features.
You’ll be working directly with @boris, our CEO and co-founder, who currently does the bulk of these tasks.
Some of the channels you’ll be responsible for:
- writing for the blog
- keeping social media rolling - Twitter, blog cross posts to DevTO, LinkedIn, any other channels that make sense to post to and monitor
- a regular cadence for our newsletter
- should we revive our weekly links posts? you tell us!
- the community forum hosts a lot of internal and contributed writing; turn it into blog posts, interviews, and other projects
- keeping on top of a content calendar for all of the above
The Developer Success team headed by @walkah will be your technical backup as well as a great source of material. You’ll also help them edit their blog posts and technical writing so that Fission can have a consistent voice and tone.
The perfect candidate:
You are comfortable and eager to learn new things across a number of disciplines. We’re happy for you to grow your strengths and leadership into any of the areas. You’re an intermediate-level writer/marketer with a strong bias to action. You can hone your craft as an individual contributor, or take on a leadership role and grow your team.
You have some awareness of open source. Literally anything around OSS and licensing that you can bring to the table would be an asset.
You’re comfortable with developers, and interested in the tools used for development.
This is listed as an intermediate role and we’re calling this a “Marketing Writer”. We’re happy to discuss what the appropriate title is. We expect a high degree of leadership and autonomy for this role, especially as the first non-engineering role being hired.
We’re a distributed team - Canada, US, Germany, Belgium, Brazil and beyond. We’ve got a fun, spirited internal chat filled with puns, pictures of lunch, recipes, and shared playlists. If you like to work collaboratively on building and explaining technical products to developers as well as every day people, we’d love to hear from you!
