Events and Meetups List: Fission Weekly Lunch & Learn Video Chat (tomorrow!)

This is our Events and Meetups mailing list we sent on April 8th, 2020. You can subscribe to our email updates here.

Tomorrow’s Show and Tell event:

April 16th Ceramic Network:

We also tried a new description, what do you think?

Fission is building a web native file system, plus tools to build & host apps with user controlled data, encryption, and local first software. This makes it easy for front end devs to build great apps with no deploy step.

Being a distributed team (Vancouver, Canada, Nixa, MO, United States, and Ghent, Belgium), we had already decided to do more video chats. The remote presentations we hosted at our Fernie team retreat were really enjoyable – we got to talk to some great people and learn a lot!

We are now hosting weekly Lunch & Learn video chats on Thursday mornings at 9AM PDT . “Lunch & Learns” are a bit of a strange phrase, especially as our time slot is really only lunch for those of you in the North American Eastern TZ. For us, they’re casual discussions with technical presenters, and a chance to hang out and chat. You can check out the last few as well as the upcoming schedule on the forum.

This Thursday, April 9th – which is tomorrow, depending on when you’re reading this email! – we’re hosting the first Show & Tell edition. This means we won’t have a main speaker or presentation, but welcome anyone to dial in, show a demo, introduce themselves, bring a discussion topic, or anything else you want to tell us about. Visit the forum to get the video link and other details – the password will be “showandtell”.

Next week, on April 16th, we’re joined by Joel Thorstensson, CTO of 3box, to talk about the technical specs behind the Ceramic Network.

Let us know if there are great community calls or online conferences you want us to help promote – anyone can post Events on the forum. Oh, and we’re looking forward to what the Tito team are doing for online conferences with their new Vito community live-streaming product.
